Volunteer Appreciation BBQ at Heckscher State Park

There’s a saying that it takes a whole village to raise a family. That is true for our CM Family here at the CM Performing Arts Center. Being a NonProfit Theatre, we rely heavily on donations and volunteers to keep our doors open during any given year, but that was even more true this past year. Thanks to countless hours given up by extraordinary individuals over the past 16 months, we were able to keep our “Impossible Dream” going by adapting to the ever-changing world around us. This started with our virtual entertainment offerings of CM Live and CM Spotlight, progressed into our outdoor CM Under the Stars series that featured shows such as CM Live (Literally!), The Rat Pack Live, and our CM Teens production of Disney’s Descendants, finally culminating with our Holiday interactive events such as Haunted Theatre, The North Pole Experience, and The Easter Bunny Experience before reopening with Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Many hours were sacrificed for all of these events to come into fruition during a chaotic year. For that, The CM Performing Arts Center’s Board of Directors wanted to thank everyone for all that they have done for us in the form of a Volunteer BBQ party at Heckscher State Park. Several generations of our CM family came together to share stories from all throughout CM’s history, talk about plans for the future, and perhaps most importantly, enjoy each other’s company in person for the first time in a while in the here and now. Games were played, food was eaten, and a good time was had by all. As the Board had stated at the BBQ, they aim at making this event an annual tradition to thank the hard work and dedication of our volunteers. Are you interested in volunteering for CM?
