Our Sensory Sensitive performances have been thoughtfully adapted in collaboration with our Accessibility Coordinator, Christine Kerimian-Fitzgerald, to create a welcoming and inclusive experience for individuals with sensory sensitivities, along with their families, friends, and caregivers. Our goal is to create a theatre environment where everyone feels comfortable, supported, and able to enjoy the performance in their own way.
For these performances, the following accommodations will be in place:
- Lower Sound Levels
Volume levels will be reduced throughout the performance to provide a more comfortable listening experience.
- Gradual Lighting Changes
Lighting transitions will be softened and extended to avoid sudden shifts. Guests who are sensitive to light may wish to bring sunglasses for additional comfort.
- Content and Sensory Advisories
Announcements will be made before moments that may feel intense or overwhelming. Guests are always welcome to step out of the auditorium at any time and visit our breakout room, where the performance will continue on a TV screen, and return whenever they feel ready. As part of our commitment to creating sensory inclusive environment our breakout room is available for ALL performances at our theatre.Â
- Preparing for Your Visit
A 360-degree view of our space is available to ease anxiety around transitioning to new spaces: https://www.cmpac.com/about-us/ Â
- Destigmatizing Movement & Vocalizations During The Performance
Guests are welcome to move, vocalize and/or take breaks, as needed. You/they are encouraged to bring any sensory tools or comfort items that help you/them feel at ease & regulated at this and ALL performances at our theatre.
- Staff and Volunteers
Our team will do our very best to ensure every guest is welcomed with kindness, patience, and respect at this and ALL performances at our theatre.
These accommodations are offered with care and consideration to create a space where people of varying ages and support needs can feel included and enjoy the experience together. We recognize that everyone experiences the world differently, and we are committed to meeting our audience where they are.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss specific accommodations, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here to help make your visit as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. Please email us at info@cmpac.com or call us at 631-218-2810 extension 1.
